Height on drives
Question
I use a 12 degree driver, seems like I make good contact but very rarely hit a high shot, always seems like my golf shot has a low to mid trajectory
Answer
Hi there and thank you for asking. Hitting the proper flight has very little to do with the loft of the driver. Here is a brief list of all the components that are responsible for how high your drive will go, in addition to the loft:
- spin rate
- angle of attack
- clubhead center of mass
- shaft type
- swing type
- angle/acceleration at impact
- weather/air conditions
- tee height
- type of ball used
With all this into account, you should be able to hit a 6 degree driver higher than a 12 degree driver, which is what John Daly and Tiger used to do easily.
