Draw/Hook everything!
Question
Hi there, I am a returning golfer who use to play of a comfortable 9 handicap, shot couple of 69's but have struggled with consistency.(Mainly off the tee)
I have returned to golf from a 2 year absent period but with it has come the hooks!..Ok I am hard on myself, no practice and expecting more sub par rounds!:-)
I have always hooked/drawn the ball on good days, and am happy with it as it has turned me into quite a big hitter. However to improve my game I am taking 3 wood to keep the ball in play and sacrificing potential distance from not hitting the driver. But lately the draw/extended draw has crept all the way down to 9 iron! Lost ball on on a par 3 today!
Is this an ailgment problem on setup? Too much of a flat swing?
Starting with a closed head Or am I just doomed to embarrassing 9 iron draws to outer bounds?!!
Thanks in advance
Joe
Answer
Joe,
Without the benefit of seeing your golf swing I'll give you a couple of scenarios. It may be that your swinging the club too inside to out thus producing all of that spin. You also may be releasing the club or closing it at impact creating all of the hook spin.
Go see a local PGA Professional and get yourself on the right track.
Let me know if this helps.
