legal pin placement
Question
Is there a rule in golf that tells how close to the edge of a green a pin may be placed? If so, what is that measurement?
Answer
Bob,
I do not believe there is a rule that covers your question because I have researched it extensively and found nothing. However I do know that common sense plays a big part as to where to cut the cup. Generally speaking on large greens (over 7,500 sq feet)15 feet from the edge is a good rule to follow. On smaller greens the 10 foot standard would be acceptable. The hole should be placed in a level spot on the green.
Remember these are just opinions, nothing that is in black and white.
Let me know if this helps.
