Driver Shafts
Question
I bought from a shop in CA (I live in PA) 4 sensicore 45" rifle shafts which are marked XH100. The individual indivtaed these were "pro-tour" shafts and were extra stiff. I am a long ball hitter (average about 290, many over 300 yrds), would this be an acceptible shaft to put in a driver head? My club head swing is between 105 and 110 so I have no issue with weight or getting the club around. I have the "90's" of the same shaft in my irons. Can I use this shaft for 2 driver heads I would like to put into use?
Thanks
Answer
Warren,
The shaft you describe is a true temper shaft. Rifle did not sensicore their product.
The marking on the shaft from true temper indicates an X100 shaft which is considered an "X" flex shaft.
Your swing speed is in the "X" flex range particularly if you are little aggressive. The steel shaft does ad weight to the driver however, if you don't have a problem with the weight then it will be an acceptable shaft.
A couple of things to consider when installing the shaft.
1) the tip section is .335 ensure the head you are putting them into has the same hosel size or an adapter will be needed.
2) Find the spine of the shaft and align to your needs. Spines are a topic of much discussion in the clubmaking world. In my opinion it just adds consistency
3) Don't tip the shaft.
4) Don"t be afraid to go after the ball and have a good time
Thanks Again
