incorrect points - stableford
Question
Hi Ken
Yesterday,in our weekly stableford competition, one of our players signed for an incorrect score. He had scored a gross bogey at a hole where he was receiving a stroke, but only recorded 1 point instead of 2. Despite this, he went on to win the competition. Was I correct in not disqalifying for 'signing an incorrect card'?
Thanks
Jamie
Answer
Hi Jamie,
I believe you were correct in not disqualifying him.
A player is responsible for recording his correct "gross" score for each hole, not for the addition of the scores. In this case, it was not assigning the correct number of points to a score. He still wrote down the correct score on the hole.
People make mistakes with addition from time to time and in assigning points.
Hope this helps.
