How much should I practice and on what?

Question
Hi, I'm a 26 yr old, resonably new golfer, played for a couple of years. But have never really put the effort in to practice, just played alot of 9 holes and weekend comps.
Anyway over the winter as my course has been shut alot due to snow etc. i decided to improve my swing etc, practised in front of the mirror alot, and have tried to model my swing on good players swings, recieving some good tips on the way.
I play off 17, but have played in the winter league 4 times in last 6 weeks, and have shot in the 70's on all 4 occasions
I want to really improve my game, and am dedicating 2 hours to practising every day, be it on the range, practise area or in front of my mirror.
I havent a clue though what would be the best way for me to improve in practising, i would love a routine to follow to keep me focused, and improving.
Thanks

Answer
Daniel,

First of all I think it's fantastic that you have two hours to practice every day. Here is my suggestion on your practice schedule. Every other day you should devote 75 minutes a day on your short game. Bunker play, putting chipping and pitching. The other 45 minutes spend this time on the range working on your full swing. The short game practice will improve your game immensely. In between these practice sessions, I would suggest playing 9 holes or so depending on the time you have.

Practicing and practicing correctly are usually two different things. Take a few lessons from a respected golf professional so you will know how to practice and what to work on when you do.

I've given you a practice schedule and a suggestion to take some lessons. If you do both I promise you will see improvement to your liking.

Best of luck,

Michael
