card-off
Question
Hi,
My women's club just finished a tournament and "card-off" rule was applied to four ties. Could you explain this rule? I am not familiar with it at all and couldn't find anywhere about this. I think our club was comparing backwards from 18th hole. The tournament was for two days on two different courses.
Thank you.
Answer
Hellena,
The phrase "card off" is short for scorecard playoff. This is something the committee decides before a competition. It can be hole # 18 backwards as is in this case or the playoff may begin with the #1 handicap hole and continuing with handicap hole # 2 and so on.
In this case the tournament was for two days and they took the second days scores to decide the playoff.
Thanks for the question,
