Reshafting Ping clubs
Question
I have an old set of Pings which I am considering reshafting. Because the hosels are taper fit my preference is to use taper fit shafts rather than rebore the hosels and use parallel fit shafts. Am I right in assuming that taper fit shafts can only be trimmed to length at the butt end ? Thanks.
Answer
Arthur,
You are correct in that taper tipped shafted are a butt trim only set up. A taper tip shaft is really only tapered the first 3/8 inch of the tip. If you were to trim the tip it would become a parallel shaft.
If you are considering Graphite, there is only one company I know the produces a taper product. That company is SK Fiber, A quality shaft and company.
Thanks
