Question
QUESTION: I took the 4 wood out on the golf course today. Right down the middle of the fairway 200 yards just about every time (I used it on the par 4s). Even hit some fairway shots nice n straight.
First hole - teed off with 4 wood and then hit the "Ely Would" 11 wood right next to the green.
I think with the driver the fade issue may be more of a shaft flex thing. I picked up a Titleist 975D with a light regular shaft and the fade was more profound (I returned it to the store and got a Callaway Big Bertha that has the same shaft as the other woods; will try it out later on). Also, my 9 degree Orlimar fairway wood (with firm shaft) goes pretty straight (but doesn't quite get the distance my G2 does).
ANSWER: Lou: Shaft flex can indeed produce a fade. I would ask where the ball starts before the fade begins. If it's starting left or right of the intended direction, you may be standing taller with the driver. This could do one of two things, make the swing a round house shape which would start the ball left of the target line; or, due to standing straighter, your weight shifts to your heels which puts you out of balance, thereby making it difficult to shift your weight behind the ball; causing the ball to start right of target and then fade.

QUESTION: It goes slightly left. It feels like a solid shot. If I hit it straight, it gets a rather high trajectory.
Answer
Lou: Check your alignment; making sure the line through the ball runs at your target and the line across your toes runs parallel left of the target line. I suspect the line across your toes points closer to the target than does the one running through the ball. If that is the case, you would have to come over the top and pull the club left to get it started at your target. Re-routing the club never produces consistent motion so the ball could start all over the place.
