Question
Michael:

Thanks for taking the time to review my question.

My question is about my driver.  Right now I am hitting a 07 Taylor Made Burner.  Its a 10.5 degree club.  I have a pretty bad fade with my driver and I am having trouble getting off the tee.

I have a friend of mine who swings an 8.5 degree driver that I have hit a few times and each time I have hit long and straight.  I am thinking of switching to a 9 degree considering my ball flight is pretty low.  I like to hit the ball low and let it run.  I am a 26 handicap 85% of my high handicap is due to my inconsisent driver, having to drop 3 or re hit from the tee box or pitching out of trouble after my tee shot.

Let me know if you can make any suggestions.

Thanks for your time and taking my question.

Answer
Adam,

The first thing I would do is to borrow your friend's driver and take it to the range. If you hit it well on the range offer to buy it from him. If he doesn't want to sell I would suggest going to a demo day. It is usually free and manufacturers allow you to hit their latest models to see which one fits your swing. If you hit one well there, offer to buy it from the rep.

You say you like to hit the ball low with your driver and let the ball roll. This is only good when you hit the ball straight. If you hit the ball off line it will run out of bounds or into trouble. Something to think about......

Thanks and good luck,

Michael
