Swing Low Point
Question
How does one practice to get a consistent low point in their swing? How much
does proper weight shift have to do with acquiring a constant swing low point?
What other parts of the swing contribute a consistent low point in the golfer's
swing? This to me is one of the most important, but over looked points of a the
golf swing. There is so little information available about this part of the
swing. With a consistent low point, the golfer will know the ball position, have
more "crisp" hits, and enjoy longer, more consistent distances. Thanks, Pat
Answer
Patch,
By doing the same things in your backswing and downswing you'll have a constant low point in your swing. I belive you asking about a proper low point in the swing that's consistent. First of all with the irons you want the low point of the swing to be in front (target side) of the ball. This will enable you to hit down and through which will create solid contact and back spin. Back spin is the best way to control the ball. When you swing the woods you would like to have the low point happen prior to impact. The club should be ascending at impact.
The proper stance, ball position and weight shift are the three key ingredients in creating a proper low point in your swing. The best thing to do is to take a lesson from a PGA Professional.
It will be easier to understand.
Thanks and good luck,
Michael
