Repeatable Golf Swing
Question
Michael,
I am the master of the 42 front nine and 54 back nine (sometimes visa/versa). This year I had an 84 followed two days later by a 100. Years ago, I had my all time low (76), again followed by a 100. I am 47 in decent shape (5'9; 160 pounds). My exercise routine alternates running, aerobics and weights. Why can't I come up with a more consistent swing/results. My handicap has gone from 10 to 14 back to 12 and now 15 in 2.5 years. I see people advertise golf fitness programs on the web. Is this the answer? To work my golf muscles/flexibility? Any suggestions would help.
Answer
Vale,
First of all it sounds as if your fitness program is right in line. The only caution would be when using weights, don't max out, do more reps with lighter weights. This will tone the muscles.
When you practice do you see inconsistencies when you're on the range? If you can, extend the time on the driving range. This is the best way to attain a consistent swing.
When you go to the course make sure your mind is clear. I know many golfers that have five swing thoughts when they play and therefore can't manage their game on the course.
One more thing. After each round replay your shots and see if there is any kind of pattern.
Good luck and keep me posted.
Michael
