Teeing ground
Question
we are considering changing the naming convention of the various tees at our club. We currently use colors (black, white, red) and are considering championship, member, forward, as an alternative. Are there other ways to lab the tees that you ate aware of? We want to stay away from numbers as well.
Appreciate any insight.

Answer
Hi Jim;
My apologies for the delay in responding, I just got notification of your question today.
That I know of there is no set rule as to how you want to rename the tee boxes.
Be creative and label them something catchy, who knows you may start a new trend.
You could name the tees from a diabolical stand point (Laughing at my own humor), or you could name them from a soft and fuzzy stand point, or may be a little of both.
The choice really is up to management and ownership. Have you done a survey of the members as to there thoughts? More times than not when you involve membership they get a sense of ownership be it real or imagined and then they get more involved. My gut is saying that would be a really good thing to do right now to at least get an idea.
Another Idea would be to sell the tee boxes to local advertisers at varying prices depending upon the tee boxes.
Also another thing I see here is you only have currently three boxes. Why not make a another teeing area for kids? You could make a short mini course by having tee boxes set up in the fairway at varying lengths for them. This is a minimal cost thing and only requires the temporary markers. You could make those from wooden blocks and paint them however.
Also in doing that you can add different types of short course member events and gain added revenue from that.
Good Luck
