Right hand
Question
Hi John,
I notice frequently on still photos of Tiger Woods that he wears a white bandage, or piece of tape, around one finger of his right hand. Do you know why he wears this bandage?
And can you tell me what are the normal locations of the right hand which take the most abrasion during long practice sessions. My left hand is always protected by the glove. But like perhpas most hard practicers my right hand is slowly developing calluses but i am unsure if the locations on my hand are the common places. What is normal?
Answer
Jobin: I can only speculate as to why Tiger uses tape. As far as the calluses, normal locations would be at the bases of the smallest finger and the two next to it and between the first 2 joints on the two middle fingers. Any place else would suggest either the grips are too small or placed in the hand improperly (too much in the palm of the hand).
Thanks for the question,
Fairways and Greens,
John
