practice balls?
Question
Dathaeus
I got a pack of these for my birthday. Are they of any benefit and what is the correct way to use them?
The local driving range is expensive and busy.
I was thinking of practicing putting outside in my yard on a carpet then using these to practice hitting?
Thanks!
Answer
How many balls are there? If you have at least 20+ yes putting of course helps, but honestly, for practice, the only way it matters between using those and say ProV's is the spin reaction on the green off a long chip to pitch. I actually practice with practice balls all the time even for chipping etc., because #1 its cheaper, and #2 if you can stop a practice ball on a short sides hole, on the course when you play with real balls it is a piece of cake.
Otherwise, go to a local park or isolated area with fluffy grass, take a sand wedge, and hit some 30-50 yard shots to one area, picking a target always. Then go there and hit them back. Try not to make big divots, so give yourself a fluffy lie every time so you can work on touch and the mini swing. If you get good at this, you are well on your way to a better game.
