Hooking
Question
Had one other question -- I've been having trouble getting my driver/hybrid straight, more so with the hybrid. I'm almost positive it's due to overactive hands, which turns over oftentimes and causes a hook.
Right now I'm trying to feel like I'm getting my body through the ball, which does help with the driver. However, the hybrid is still hooking a bit. Help?
Answer
Jeff:
Weaken your left hand (move more to the left on the grip). Make the left hand more neutral. The "V" of the left hand would be pointing more towards your chin or slightly towards your LEFT shoulder, not the right. This will slow down the turning of the clubface which will help you hit it straighter. Getting your body through is fine as long as you swing the club fast enough to stay up with the body pivot. Check your grip, weaken it a bit, and see how that works for you. If the face isn't turning over so much, you'll put less spin on the ball and it will go straighter. Also, check your alignment to make sure you are lined up correctly. Very important.
