if it fits, it hits (applied to putting)
Question
Last week I acquired an Odyssey White Hot putter (used) from Golf Mart after finding how easy it was to sink putts at the practice area from 6-10 ft. The "fam fire" at the various practice greens proved to be fruitful and 6 ft putts were virtual "gimmes" and longer putts (30-40') were gettingthatclose. Even on the hilly practice green I wasn't faring too bad.
I looked at it vs the putter I had been using for 3 years and it was approx 2" longer. I got this particular putter because IT was sinking more putts vs a lot of Odyssey putters.
Could it be that a 36" putter is a better fit for someone 6'1"?
Answer
It's not so much how tall you are but how long your arms are. It's possible the longer putter puts you in a position that allows your arms to hang more comfortably allowing your eyes to be positioned more over the putting line. Optics play a large roll in one's ability to make putts and you may have found the right length that compliments your ideal setup for optimum optics. Also, the putter itself is great for finding the line. I'd hang on to it!!
Thanks for the question,
