Question
Hi Dan
I have several questions I hope you dont mind answering. I am 53, a few games a summer golfer. Now that I have a bit more spare time (but not money) I hope to get out more. Last year I upgraded from a used set to a decent new, but still bottom line set, from Walmart. (I said I was on a budget).
It did improve my game by a fe strokes.
Question #1. Should I but golf shoes this year? I have never tried them, just played in runners.
Question#2. Should I buy a new driver? Everyone seems to have a big $300 or more driver in their bag.
Question#3. Should I consider lessons? A pro here is giving lessons in a local indoor golf dome for $50. I could afford one only. My wife will buy it for my upcoming birthday. How do I get the most for my money-what should I ask him to help me on? I am average or below-my drives are OK so are putts, its the shorter clubs I screw up on.
Thanks so much!
Answer
Hello bud:
Thanks for asking these questions.
Question 1: Yes. I recommend you to get a golf shoes. Golf shoes nowadays has soft spikes instead of metal spikes to protect green and grass. At least you need to have spikes to hold firm yourself when preparing or executing swing. Golf swing requires quite a lot of muscle movement in the leg and waist and body, so you need a golf shoes. You can buy one at Walmart.
Question 2: You don't need to spend that much money to buy a good driver. Try to buy a used one, a couple of years old. You can find a very good one under $100. You can find one at the store like PlayItAgain.
Question 3: I recommend you to have a lesson. It should be a help for a solid basic golf swing.
In addition, please check my website for a couple of tips, especially idea of One-Plane-Golf-Swing. I spent a lot of time to improve golf skill and swing, but lately I found out that one plane golf swing really works and makes sense. It simplifies the golf swing. Thanks.
