Question
I have always driven the ball well but when I do not,I . block it or push it about 10 to 15 degrees to the right. no slice. This puts me off the fairways and costs pars and birdies.cant figure this little but costly mistake out. please help. any drills or tips to get me back down the center or to my target. Thank you.

If you are pushing your shots, most likely the club is approaching the ball too much from the inside. We call that an in to out swing shape. When someone has an in to out swing shape, the things that can happen are they hit the ground behind the ball on the inside, the club is too shallow on approach thus it's tough to take a divot catching a lot of balls thin, balls are pushed out to the right and then they start to develop a hook because they start trying to save it with their hands, closing the face. Your clubface hits the back inside part of the ball, clubface is square to that inside line, sending it off to the right. So, picture standing behind your ball looking at your target. If your ball was a clock, hitting the ball in the back center of the ball would be striking it at 6 o'clock. You strike it at 7 o'clock and the club then swings out towards 2 o'clock. That is an in to out swing path. What you want to start practicing to develop the change in path, is to try to strike the back outside part of the ball (say 5 o'clock) and have the club swing more towards 11 o'clock. You need to change the path the club is swinging into the ball on, so start doing the opposite for a while to feel the change. We need to swing the club towards the target, but in this case, it sounds like you are not, your out to the right. In no time, you'll start that ball out on the correct path...right at your target.
