Pier Spinning
Question
hello richard,
I don't know if you have ever fished in England but thats where i'm writing from.
I have a range of spinners, spoons and plugs, and will be fishing off a pier in Tynemouth in Northern England (North Sea) pretty soon. Any tips/techniques or types of lures to get the most out of it? i'll be using a fairly light tackle- a re-inforced fly rod, with whatever line you suggest...
cheers mate.

Answer
Hi Conan;
I am sorry but I have never fished anywhere in England. My best advice is to contact a local bait and tackle shop in the area you intend to fish and ask them for specifics of how and what to fish for. There is no substitution for local first hand information. If you will be fishing that area for more than a day or two, it would probably be to your benefit to stop in at such a local tackle shop when you first get there and spend some money on particular terminal tackle recommended by the proprieter. The few dollars, or whatever currency is used, should more than pay for itself in information. Let them know you are going to be there for more than one visit and if you are successful because of the bait, lures, or rigs you purchased, you would be back for more. It is just a matter of simple business. Local bait and tackle shops depend upon repeat customers, and they do not get these by giving bad advice. Other that that, I really cannot help you out with any specifics. Just remember the saying "A bad day's fishing beats a good day at work" and enjoy yourself. And if you fish, but do not catch, remind yourself that is why we go fishing, because if we always caught fish it would be called "catching" rather than just fishing.
