Question
So I am headed to Miami beach on Dec.24 I have been surf fishing never this far south. We usely go to Hilton Head SC I was wondering if I can catch anything this time of year on the beach? If I can what type of fish are around in this season. What type of bait should I be using if I do fish, and what type of rig should I be using. There apers to be a pier down the street. Are piers more productive if so what rig what bait

What you really need to do is contact a local bait and tackle shop in that area. They would not only be able to tell you what is available, but should provide information on appropriate baits, lures, and rigs. Use the internet to find out what bait and tackle shops are in the area, and then try calling. When I spent a few days last winter on the west coast of Florida, I did just that. I spoke to a couple of the places listed and particularly liked what I heard from one of them. I found out the type of fishing that was being done at the time I would be there, and brought the appropriate tackle. Soon after getting there, I went to the tackle shop, spent a few dollars on suggested bait and rigs, just as a matter of good will, and was fishing shortly after that. There is no substiture for local knowledge.
