grouper
Question
Hello there. I am going bak to Dubai in the begining of June to visit my family for the summer. That is when the fishing season is officially over in the UAE but im not giving up I will try my old spot my inflattable boat...should take me a few hundred metres offshore...anyway I was hoping that you could tell me how to target a grouper or any other big game fish at this time of year (Begining of the summer over here). I never tried spinning or trolling before. And if I want to use trolling should I use the artificial lures or a real live or dead fish. And if a real fish should be used how should I present the it?
Kind Regards,

Answer
I am guessing that for trolling it would be about the same for grouper there as with Grouper here. I cannot confirm this and would be curious to know how well you did after the fact. My advice would be to use large "lipped" Deep Diving Plugs to troll. The farther you can get down the better. Also depending on the type of bottom if you can tell it is best to troll near ledges or along the edges of Ship Paths. if you have a planing board that will help get the bait down deep but I have heard that the very large lip baits can get pretty deep like around 25 to 30 ft depending on size. remember they hit hard so be sure your drag is set correctly Not too tight not too loose. once you do hook one if there are a lot of rocks make sure to get him up off the bottom or he will dig into the rocks and break off.
