Orvis Battenkill Reel
Question
Hi Michael, I have a reel I want to sell but I'm confused. It's a Battenkill Large Arbor Reel. The reel says "Large Arbor II" on it, but I can't find any pics or info online about it. I see pictures of the Large Arbor III and it looks just like my model. Here's a link to what my real looks like. http://www.murraysflyshop.com/images/Products/orvis_btkllrgarbor.jpg It sounds like mine is an older model. In any case, do you know what I can get for it? It's in pristine condition, never been used and has a case.
Answer
Shawn,
I believe the Arbor series went through a fast transition of levels (from Arbor I to II to III) thus that model was only available a couple years before being upgraded. My guess is it is worth $75-120 if you put it on eBay. If you consign it to a local fly shop during a 'fly swap', you might get more.
Orvis.com has a live chat feature, they can tell you more about your model and what it initially sold for. Hope this helps.
