The Goodwin Rod

Reel Seat   Hello Rick.  I have a bamboo rod with is identified only as "The Goodwin Rod" on the reel seat.  It is a four piece rod with the butt and mid sections at 36 1/2".  There are two tips, one is 34 5/8" and one is 31 15/16".  Obviously both tips have been broken, but have now been repaired.  The rod is is reasonably good condition, but has some thread missing on one of the windings.  The rod is in a generic aluminum tube and has a four section bag, which unfortunately is also generic.  I know that the value of the rod is probably diminished because of the broken tips but am wondering if the rod has any value, and if so, what the value might be.

Hi Jim - You've got a 'second era' Goodwin Granger rod.  In great shape probably worth around $400 or perhsaps a bit more.  A pretty desirable rod but with the two broken tips valus is not great.  I'd guess you might get $75 or $100 for it.  If the rest is in good shape.  Your photo is a bit dark but it does not look to me to be very good shape.  I hope that helps.
