QuestionI have a bamboo 3pc w/2 tips, 9ft, Has a little decal of a sailing ship and the name Mayflower, like a crest decal about the size of a dime. Having a hard time finding out about it. Need the middle female ferrule. All hardware is chrome and it is at least 90% condition. Would you have any ideas on and is there anyone to get a ferrule from. Thank You, Terry
AnswerTerry,
I am doubting you are going to find a maker or model on this rod because it is Japanese
Parts - I have them - Measure the rod where the female is missing - I sell chrome platted brass with shipping for $10 ( a pair) they use 64ths but a decimal is fine - e-mail
[email protected] for details.
I know it is Japanese because I have seen the ship and Mayflower on many rods in boxes. They are probably not even Tonkin cane.
Originally sold by the thousands to GIs in a light long box with lures and huge flies . Mostly considered trinkets by collectors but memorial to GIs , they have little resale or fishing value. I have never seen any written history on them in English except the following. http://www.maxrod.net/article/
There is a book on Goggle books, with a little history and a limited preview: Bamboo In Japan by Nancy Moore Bess

Mac
