Orvis Spinning Rod & Reel

A friend recently showed me a Orvis Impregnatted Battenkill Serial # 18802 with a spinning reel Orvis 101. It is in what I would call mint condition. Aluminum case , sleeve, rod & reel. It shows no wear anywhere. His Dad was given as a gift. He was an attorney & did some work for Orvis & was given this as a gift.His Dad wasn't a fisherman & onlu used it a couple of times. It has been in the case in a corner ever since. He has no intrest in it & wants to sell it. I want to make a fair offer. Can you give me a price based on the information I have supplied.

I am assuming that the rod is a spinning rod (not a fly rod), since it came with an Orvis spinning reel.

The rod would be worth about $250 mint. The reel about $30, more it has the original box and instructions.

note: rod values move around a lot, and have been significantly down with the economy.
