QuestionI have a Heddon #14 and the handle and several wraps have deteriorated. It is time to refinish the rod. What silk threads today would be a good match for the red color that would have been on the thorobred originally? Are there sources you can point me to?
AnswerBob,
That is called Chinese red by Sinclair, use
Gudebrod #326,silk, size 0
or YLI #50 is #5 while #100 is 201 or
B-C is 4350
The above are thread makers and the numbers are the specific colors.
I always restore all the rod - You can always spot a rewrap on only part of a rod , because the threads will not be the same color - the older thread has been exposed to UV , fading it.
