Answer
Hi Andy,
It sounds likely that both rods are made by Montague. If you are interested in being a bit more certain about the maker, send me some pictures of the rods and I'll review them for you. The first rod is what is called a boat rod, typically used in saltwater for bottom fishing. The second rod is possibly a surf rod used for casting from the beach or jetty.
Value depends entirely on condition of the rods. If they are essentially in the same condition, then they would be fairly close in value. Some guidelines for value on these type rods would be: Poor-Fair condition in the $15-$40 range; Good-Very Good condition in the $40-$70 range; and in Excellent-Mint condition in the $70-$110 range. These types of rods are improving in value over the past decade as people re-discover them, resurrect/restore them and fish with them.
Thanks, Joe
