QuestionQUESTION: I acquired 4 bamboo flyrods when my grandfather passed away. All are Shakespeare and have a tube as well as the sleeve and one has a wooden dowel in the sleeve. I'm guessing it was to keep from snapping the rod by accident. 2 are in pristine condition, one being the wonderrod and the other has a 4 digit number and then "9'". Obviously a nine foot rod. But what is the number. I need to know if I need to purchase a rider on my insurance policy as I also received 2 tackleboxes full of Shakespeare lures. All are antique. I also have boxes for some of the lures.
ANSWER: Scott,
I am giving you a general answer on the rods only. It is an estimated guess without rod model numbers.
I am assuming all 4 rods are bamboo(flat sided) and fly rods (reel below handle).
Re-sell price depends on model and condition.

QUESTION: Thank you for my answer. It gives me something to go on. You were correct about the bamboo flat sided rods. I also have one rod that is also a Shakespeare but it is in two sections and is black. It also has both tips and tube with sheath. After reading the grading page I would say it in very good to excellent condition. It also appears to be a fly rod. Does this fall into the same catagorie as the bamboo?
Thank you
Scott
AnswerScott
The answer I gave you is for bamboo fly rods. If some of your rods are not either, then my estimate is wrong. Make sense?
If the black one is round not flat sided, I would guess that it is fiberglass or graphite. Not all that valuable. Pictures to
