Browning Silaflex Executive Travel Rods
Question
I have acquired a never fished set of Browning Silaflex rods. The set contains a flyrod, casting rod, spinning rod. They are in nice socks and in a metal tube with a brass cap and engraving plate on the tube. The historian at the Browning Co. said they were from the early to mid sixties. They look to have never been fished, they also have rubber grommets to each ferrule connection. They were called the Executive Travel set,,,,,,,Do you have any ideas about the value or info on this set,,,,very glad to have them but would like to know more,,,,,Thank you in advance,,,,,,,David
Answer
Hi David,
The rod is definitely from the 1960s. Browning bought Silaflex in 1962 and changed the ferrule design in 1970. I do not have a value estimate for you. I suggest you try posting some comments on one of the fiberglass fly rod enthusiast discussion forums. You should find plenty of interest there and some help on value estimates.
Thanks, Joe
