Answer
Arthur,
According to Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000); the value of the 8 1/2 ft model #57 with an extra tip , is $35, 90 and $165 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively. You get a little more if you have the sock /bag and or tube/case. So if you find the right person and the condition is as you stated, you might get $175. Quote the book , not me , please.
Most people over evaluate vintage fishing equipment, Homel gives detailed criteria for condition. You could be right but that's just my experience. Homel is probably at your local library.
Let me know if you need more.
Luck,
Mac
