Armax Bamboo flyrod #7575
Question
I have an Armax Bamboo flyrod #7575 pat Feb 1 1921. It is 4 pieces (2 tip sections) and measures 9'6 when assembled. It is 6 sided and I can find no cracks, damage etc..other than some nicks in the cork handle. the real seat and ferrules are silver (not sure what type of metal). Is this collectable and what type of value does it hold?
Answer
Brian,
Price Book:
Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book
Armax rods were made by Winchester.
Homel does not list the Armax #7547.
It lists a Armax brand fly rod 9 footer at $50, 110 and $200 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.
If this rod was made after 1935 it was made by Horrocks-Ibbotson and has less value than the lowest figures above.
Luck,
Mac
