AnswerLouis,
I got lost when you wrote "3 pieces 24-15 & spare tip"? If I missed an import piece of information , please clarify.
I used the Orvis database , Orvis Bamboo Rod Production ~ 1940 to 2008:
A Collector's Reference Copyright 2003-2008 James Gregory Reynolds
http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2h7gi/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/orvis.htm
Number 36628 is not in the database, but I see that more often than I find the serial numbers in the database.
I recommend that you call Orvis 888-235-9763, they have a non digital , paper source with more complete serial numbers. I have also found that if you ask for a value they will put you off but if you ask for age, maker and model then you will get some help.
Price Book:
Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000).
Homel gives the Orvis 10 ft (similar) Model "Battenkill Salmon" rod, 3 sections, an extra tip valued at $95, 195 and $365 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.
You might search eBay for prices on Orvis bamboo fly rods, too.
Orvis is still in business and here's some history of bamboo rod makers:

And last I will say the prices above are low, as there is a new fad in fly fishing for 2 handed rods. I might get $400 for it. I would need pictures detailed and not blurry to
[email protected] before I can proceed.
Good Luck
Mac
