QuestionHi, I am looking to replace my husband's old Eddie Bauer Orvis 4 piece Fullflex fiberglass combination rod he purchased in the late 1970's. It was 7' long and weighed 3 3/4 ounces. It was yellow in color and I believe it was a regular Orvis made especially to sell in Eddie Bauer stores. He broke the second piece from the end and has been lamenting it ever since. Is fiberglass repairable? Do you have any ides where I could find another rod like it? Many thanks, Bev
AnswerBeverly,
I am sorry but fiberglass rods aren't made any more. I have repaired graphite by placing a tube over the break (not always possible) that fits tight. It changes the rod. Send me a picture of the rod to
[email protected] and I can tell by looking .
I recommend getting him a 4 piece graphite rod. Have you called Orvis - they are still in business. Orvis Fishing and Hunting Technical Experts: 800-778-4778 or e-mail your question to
[email protected]
Also see if you could get replacement parts or a new rod from these fiberglass rod forums:

Have you looked into ebay for a 4 piece fiberglass rod, I see one for $35 - maybe not Orvis but it is a combo.
Please let me know if that doesn't work, I could get even more creative.
Luck,
Mac
