Questiongood morning Rick. my name is Ryan and i have a ?. my uncle passed away in his belonging we found a old rod. didn't think much of it till one of my friends came over and seen it. he freaked out telling us he watched a show on the history channel about the 6 sided and the 8 sided bamboo rods. I've looked all over Internet and found allot of old rods but none like this. its a 10'5" three piece. it has tread wrapped around it perfect all the way up in Diamond pattern. when U connect them its like nothing I've seen. its like it has a latch. its at my dads now or i would send epic.
any info would be great

Reel seat and handle; is it below, above or both ?
Check metal for id and patents ? What is it made of; bamboo ( flat sided) fiberglass or graphite ( round)? Weight in oz?
Where and when was it purchased ? What type of metal nickel-silver, tin, or chrome platted brass? A complete description of any logos or labels. Length of rod per section and number of sections. Total rod length.
Your rod is an 18 or 19th century rod , if I understand your description correctly and is out of my experience.

He has written a great book "Rod Crafting A Full-Color Pictorial & Written History from 1843-1960 " which has allot of wooden and older rods in it and he knows these really old rods pretty well. If you contact him tell him Mac from Denver sent you.
