Question
Horton Blue Grass
I see you are quite the expert. I appreciate your help. I just found a Horton Blue Grass No. 5. My guess is that it is worth a pretty penny. It is in excellent condition. It's amazing how well built these are. It is quite a precision instrument in my opinion. Can you give me an idea of it's value? I think it is a pretty good find.
I also found a level wind that only says "Catalina" on it. I see no other markings.
Last but not least, I found a Wright McGill "Toughy", fiberglass, 5' fishing rod that is not round, but is square. I have never seen such a thing. The reel on it is a UCO Spin Fly reel. I think this reel is worth a reasonable amount.

Answergreg,
Horton Manufacturing company assumed manufacturing of the Bluegrass reels from the BF Meek company, Kentucky in 1916 and manufactured these reels thru 1940.
The Horton reels command collector interest, but at a much lower value than the production Meek reels. (Most valuable are the early hand made Meek reels out of Kentucky).
I would estimate your reel in the $150 to $200 range. I cant tell if there has been any modification to the reel foot or other parts, if so, the value would drop greatly).
The UCO reel commands little collector interest, $5-10.
The Wright and McGill rod would be $10-$50 depending on condition, original bag, etc.
hope this helps.
