QuestionMy grandparents had a fishing resort on the Gasconade River near Hazel Green, Missouri. You can see a single picture of it in the link to another resort of the same vintage also in the area.

Going through my Dad's stuff recently I found a Heddon Pal, #6508, Mark IV, 6 ft, Fast Tip Action rod and Handle. All the lettering is hand written. The hand grip on the handle is cork, the attachment of the rod to the handle is aluminum bisel.
How old is the rod? What is it's value. I can e-mail you some pictures if I can get your e-mail address. I have some other rods, one bamboo rod handmade rod that says it was made in 1911, refurbished in 1927 and 1948. Also found many fishing lures, some are wooden, some in the original box.
AnswerDaniel,
I believe you have a fiberglass rod. It is round not flat sided. They started making it in 1955. In mint it might sell for at most $40. Fiberglass rods are nice fishing tools, just not collected like bamboo. The fiberglass stopped in the 70s.
Condition and length as well as maker are needed to properly evaluate a rod.
Price Book:
Antique & Collectible Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.
Homel gives the Heddon "Pal" fiberglass fly 8 1/2' c.1955 with out an extra tip, 3 sections the value of $5, 15 and $30 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.
