Wright & McGill Eagle Claw Rod
Question
Hello. My grandfather recently passed at the age of 90 and we found a neat fishing rod while going through his hunting & fishing gear. I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it (year made, fish used for, rare or not, ect.). It is a 2 pc rod. The bottom part of the rod is cork (about 7") followed by the reel seat. On the real seat it says WRIGHT & McGILL, DENVER COLORADO USA. Above the reel seat is cork (about 3") with an emblem that says EAGLE CLAW, A PRODUCT OF WRIGHT & McGILL CO. About 3" above the cork on the rod it has written in cursive Wright & McGill "Granger" No. DWC 5 1/2 ft. Thanks in advance for any information you can give us!
Answer
Jonas,
Wright & McGill bought the "Granger" Co in Denver and later was purchased by Eagle Claw.
I am unsure if the handle is below the reel so I am going to assume the handle is below the reel.
You also did not tell me if the rod has flat sides or round.
i am going to assume round making your rod made of fiber glass.
A fiberglass spin cast rod is not very valuable and history is not going to be found like a bamboo fly rod.
Here's fiberglass information sites

If you got $50 for it that would be a good deal.
Luck,
Mac
