Cove and Bay Fishing
Question
Do freshwater fish stay close to bays and coves or are there better fish in the middle of the lake?
Answer
It depends what the bays have to offer to the lake. If it is the only place with weeds it may attract Bass and Pike. There is nothing about a bay in general that would attract fish on it's own. But within a bay there could be elements that would attract certain species. Some fish like Trout or Stripers are open water fish and would not be attracted to what is in a bay. Generally the water is shallower than the main lake. That could interest Bass and panfish. They warm quicker than the main lake. That could attract fish in the spring. That could push some fish out in the mid summer.
Look at what the bays have to offer. Sometimes they are just a good place to get out of the wind and fish in some calm water!
Good luck,
