Question
Old rod
We moved from IN to MI. I find in my garage a unique fishing rod. I'm told it is an old lake trout rod for L. Michigan. About 61" overall length, reel dia. 9", filled w/ wire that is silver in color. Has a thumbscrew operated brake(drag?). Line from reel travels through a metal spring. One rod guide and another at rod tip are both like a pulley.Handle ahead of & behind reel are smooth dark wood showing some grain. Reel seems made of aluminum, but I'm not real sure. Rod itself is a lighter colored wood, and center eye(pulley) seems soldered around the rod.
I have several photos I can send if you like. No writing anywhere.
AnswerEd,
I concur, the set up is for fresh water trolling for lake trout. The photo looks like a home made or locally made combination from the 20s thru 40s, but thats just an estimate considering fiberglass took off after WWII.
These rods typically sell in the $30 to $50 range.
