Bamboo fly fishing rod
Question
I have a Shakespeare Honor Built Honor Sold bamboo fly rod.It has 6 flat sides, the number on it is A-1362B-9. Can you give me information on this rod and does it have any value.
Answer
Preston,
Shakespeare and Pflueger have a rod database on the web:
http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/antiques/model-rods.shtmltory
It says the model number 1364 was first made in 1931. You rod isn't necessarily that age - it could have been made in 1951.

Price Book:
Antique & Collectible Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.
Homel gives the Shakespeare 8 1/2' model 1362 "Springbrook" fly rod (3/2) with an extra tip, 3 sections the value of $25, 70 and $135 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively. Your rod is longer but the prices are old so I would think it's a push and the figures are correct as is, because longer rods are worth less.
Not the worst bamboo fly rod but not considered to be a good rod either.
Homel seems high but check ebay.
Luck,
Mac
