Fishing lines

Hi Marc,

This may be a bit off-track, but a historical question: what material did fishermen use before nylon was invented?

Just curious, and no one I ask ever knows,

Hi Christopher,

Monofilament has been around for all of my life time.  Before that, my father used braided Dacron.  That was back in the 1950's.  Before that Linen and silk.  And if you want to go way back it was horse hair.  

We are so lucky now to have all the great fishing lines!!!!
