What is a cow fish?

Cowfish or boxfish are a family of fish known as Ostraciidae. They are commonly found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. They have a distinguishable box-shaped body covered with bony plates instead of scales. The plates that make up the body of a cowfish are hexagonal, and they fit together to form a rigid structure that protects the fish from predators.

Cowfish have small mouths with thick, powerful lips. They use their lips to suck up small invertebrates from the ocean floor, such as crustaceans, mollusks, and worms. They also feed on algae.

Cowfish are relatively small fish, with most species growing to lengths less than 12 inches. However, some species, such as the giant boxfish, can grow up to 3 feet in length.

Cowfish are popular fish for aquariums because of their unique appearance and interesting behaviors. However, they can be challenging to care for, as they require specialized diets and water conditions.
