When do you need to change the fishing line on your pole?

Fishing lines need to be re-spooled at different intervals because they could either be:

- Damaged – nicks from the guides, a hook point through the line, abrasive fishing in areas with barnacles or mussels, UV sun damage, wind knots, etc.). If you see an issue, cut that section back before it breaks while fighting a fish

- Weak – from age if old and unused

- Limp– from absorbing water after extended use. Limp line creates issues with casting

- Dirty– dirt & grease can weaken the breaking strength and also provide fish with visual cue (clear water fishing). Salt build-up from saltwater fishing
