Question
fly rod
I have a 9ft. EF Payne fly rod with a spare tip.The spare tip has the end eyelet missing, but the bamboo is not broke. The spare tip has a bow in it.There are guides missing on the tips.My question is where and how much approximately would it cost to restore? What is the value as is and after restoration? Enclosed are some pictures.
AnswerNorman,
Payne rods are very valuable. But before I quote you from the
Price Book: Antique & Collectible Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.
How do you know it is a Payne?
I do restoration.
I am very interested in the rod if it is a Payne.
Cost to repair = 45 per section not including parts, but I have been known to sell them for a lot more than the average fellow and do restoration for a percentage of the sale.
It is worth restoring , like about $1000 more , but only if it is a Payne.
e-mail me - let me know if you want to sell
[email protected]
I need photos of the id - writing or logos - Payne rod model numbers are 95 to 310 , but not always
and send details -only have 1 picture, measure everything - see http://en.allexperts.com/q/Fishing-1634/indexExp_36866.htm for my list of description criteria
Luck,
Mac
