bamboo wrap spacing

i have a hand me down bamboo flyrod an old fella i helped land a couple of fish on a beach in Florida gave me an old bamboo flyrod nothing left but the tip guide sorry cork and reel seat with slip rings and intermittant thread i had it looked at by a rod repairman in Indiana he told me it was made in the 1940's it had traces of black thread wrapped in different spots i was looking on a vintage sight and saw a hardy bamboo with wrap spaced some what even what would the spacing be it is approx 9'6' pinned ferrels no stamps or markings the repairman that looked at it guessed it at a 3wt said the rod looked in good cond put some guides on it and try it i would assume the wraps are for support i don't really wana trash it so if it needs them i can install them

Let me see if I understand you - you are asking if your should follow the intermediate wraps when restoring a rod , right ?
I always follow the wraps in their original position.
Most intermediate wraps went out of fashion by the 30s or beginning of the 40s.
I always notice when guys have left the UV lines on older rods -
They did all those wraps because they didn't trust their hide glue.
So it's true you probably don't need the intermediate wraps, but it looks bad without them .
