Rod weights
Question
I have an "Action Rod GBG-C Tubular #2086 Glass" Fly rod and I'm trying to find what weight it is? It's 8' 6" long and fiberglass. The rod weighs 6 ounces. There's not much info on the label. And is there a way to test#?# for a rods weight? Cause I have an old Herter's Fly rod with no markings I'd like to find the weight on as well. I picked these up to learn how to fly fish. I like the way they feel. But, I'd like to upgrade the year production for my rods :) Thank you very much for your time and expertise. And, if pictures will help I can send them?
Thanks again,
Bryan

your line is 7-8 weight in modern terms
There is a way to test for line weight - you have reels with 3 to 8 weight line on each and then you try it out to see if it preforms properly. But you need to know how to cst erll as well as feel what the rod is doing with the line.
Like today most rods were 6 weight in the good old days.
