hurd combo fishing rod reel

we have this old rod and reel combo and wanted to know it value if any the reel is black and a walnut grip.the serial number is A97584 if this helps. some history would be great if you have some. thank you for any help.

these are selling for $125 to $225 range.

They were made by the Hurd and Lock Company out of Michigan in the late 40s. Yours is the Super Caster model with the walnut grip, the Caster model had plastic, ironically its harder to find. These came out at the same time spinning reels hit the market. They couldn't compete and thus had a short production run.

Where it falls in price will be determined by condition, if you have the original bag and paperwork that came with it.

Nice piece...they are hot right now in the collector market..good time to sell.
