QuestionI have a heddon vicount custom 6 1/2ft fiberglass spinning rod #7053 and i have done my own research for months to no avail. perhaps you can get some information for me. if it has any value would be neat too.
AnswerNathan,
Thank you for the question!
First and foremost, if you have read any of my other posts, you will know that I no longer give "values" on any tackle, even if I know the rarity. Most folks think what they have might be the next Haskell Minnow or a fly rod worth thousands of dollars. But when the reality is not what they expect, they become angry with the messenger! So forgive me if I do not attempt to tell you a value.
The VISCOUNT line of rods were fiberglass with some models being "composite" or having other material incorporated into the fiberglass (pre-graphite). They were produced in great numbers from the late 1950's to the late sixties and were very affordable. The spinning rod model you spoke of sold for around $12 per one of my buddies that used to fish one. I believe that some of the models were solid fiberglas as well.
You will find many people collecting the flyrods but only in pristine condition or for parts.
You may do further research and find some antique collectors that have a Heddon catalog with your rod listed but I was unable to do so since receiving your question.
Best of luck in the future. I hope this was at least a compass for your quest.
Feel free to email me with any photos you may have and to keep in touch should I come across additional information for you.
Thanks again!
