AnswerHi Goran,
The rod looks to be in very good condition. If possible, you might send additional pictures to me at
[email protected] and I will review them for you.
Are there any markings on the ord at all? Anything stamped into the reelseat?
The significant number of intermediate wraps indicates am early rod made of split Calcutta cane probably from the late 1800s or early 1900s.
Does the rubber butt cap happen to be removable? If so, it is quite possible that the spear head on the cane may screw into the butt end of the rod. This would be done to allow the angler to "stake" the rod into the ground, lean it against a support and eat lunch or relax while fishing.
Do you know if the rod was made in Sweden? Norway? England? France? You may have heard your father talk about it years ago?
I'll do what I can once the pictures arrive.
Thanks, Joe
